The Audit and Standards Sub-Committee's Working Group on Late Diagnoses has produced a good practice position statement on Recording and investigation of late HIV diagnoses. This gives advice on different ways to review previous health service use by individuals who are diagnosed late, to identify and learn from possible earlier missed opportunities for offering the HIV test. It follows from BHIVA's 2013 standards of care which state that all HIV services should undertake such reviews.
In 2016 the Sub-Committee plans to audit whether such reviews have been conducted, the methods used, and the impact in improving clinical practice in relation to HIV testing and earlier diagnosis.
