2024 winners

In 2024, BHIVA has allocated up to £30k for the BHIVA Laura Waters Community Awards, replacing previous ad hoc arrangements for donations and grants to other charities.

BHIVA received 16 applications from eligible charities, requesting a total of £134,673.

The review panel, chaired by Dr Carol Emerson, BHIVA trustee, recommended awards to five charities. This was endorsed by the BHIVA Executive Committee.

BHA for Equality, ‘HIV and Cancer Awareness and Support’

Commended
Positive East, ‘U=U Awareness Quilt’
Saving Lives, ‘The Living Quilts Project: Threads of HIV’
Waverley Care, ‘Digital health: creating an online hub and co-produced resources for people living with HIV’

Grants available for community charities

To acknowledge the importance of community-led endeavours, BHIVA has created an annual community award to support defined projects with the goal of supporting people living with HIV in the UK.
