Introduction

BHIVA holds two general conferences each year; the Annual Conference in the spring, and the Autumn Conference in October/November.  Other events are also held throughout the year.

Attendance at BHIVA conferences has grown rapidly and attracts a broad spectrum of participants including HIV clinicians, trainees, public health specialists, scientists and community representatives.

Pharmaceutical industry support

BHIVA welcomes support with its meetings activities from the pharmaceutical industry which significantly reduces the costs for participants which would otherwise be prohibitive for many within the field of HIV. Sponsoring companies have no involvement in developing programme content or choosing speakers with the exception of their own sponsored satellite. Pharmaceutical funding is invaluable in supporting BHIVA to deliver its objectives.

All members of the BHIVA executive and sub-committees are expected to uphold the professional standards outlined by the General Medical Council or their own profession's regulatory guidance, as appropriate, and to follow all BHIVA and relevant NICE policies. BHIVA policies related to CoI for guidelines authors and chairs are more stringent than those required by NICE.

Further information on the relationship BHIVA has with industry can be found in the conflicts of interest policy here: https://www.bhiva.org/file/611ba607cabb5/ConflictInterest.pdf
