Gilead Exchange Scholarship to Brazil in collaboration with BHIVA (Clinical Trials / Research)

Applicants must be BHIVA members (minimum of 3 months).

UK-based specialist registrars, newly-appointed consultants (within the first 5 years of appointment) and non-consultant healthcare professionals (including nurses, pharmacists, clinical and non-clinical researchers) working in the field of HIV, who have a research role and are involved in clinical trials are invited to apply.

The exchange scholarship will enable a winning applicant to travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to take part in a placement at an HIV unit for 1 week. It is anticipated that the programme will provide a unique opportunity to increase understanding and to gain experience in clinical trials recruitment and processes and, in addition, to obtain an overview of research methods from overseas. Scholars will be encouraged to disseminate this information and experience when they return to the UK.

In exchange, a scholar from Brazil will travel to the UK to take part in a placement at an HIV unit. Winning UK applicants will be responsible for organising the placement of the oversees exchange scholar at their hospital and for sourcing suitable accommodation for their stay. As such, your application must be authorised by your Clinical Director, Head of Service or Employer.

Please note that airfares, local travel and accommodation expenses will be paid for by the scholarship fund, for the winning scholars from both the UK and Brazil.
