BHIVA Autumn Conference 2022 - Scholarships

BHIVA Community Registration Support

The support will cover:

  • the conference registration fee.

Criteria for application:

  • Open to application by representatives of UK-based community organisations who are registered charities and/or who are members of the UK-CAB (UK Community Advisory Board) – see website for joining instructions https://ukcab.net.

  • If an organisation meets neither of these criteria, then they can put forward representation for consideration by BHIVA.

  • If the organisation has not registered for BHIVA conferences previously, then a representative’s registration form needs to be accompanied by a brief résumé of the aims and objectives of your organisation on headed paper.

  • Community registration places are limited and will be allocated as fairly as possible, in principle on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of two registrations per community organisation.

How to apply:

  • Applications to be made during the registration process. Please follow the registration link, select the registration category ‘I wish to apply for a Scholarship’. Then select ‘BHIVA Community Registration Support’ on the subsequent page.

  • You will then be asked to provide a written statement confirming that your organisation meets the above criteria or, if not, putting forward representation for consideration by BHIVA.

Applications must be received by 17th October 2022.

  • If you are not successful, your registration will be changed to a ‘community registration’ place and you will be required to pay the £50 earlybird registration fee.

Successful community registrants will be required to pay the full applicable registration fee post conference if they fail to attend the conference or provide 14 days’ notice of their cancellation.


BHIVA Community Scholarships

  • Awarded to UK-based community workers to attend the conference.

  • Up to 10 awards will be available to applicants who are affiliated with an HIV treatment, research, vaccine information or educational organisation and who are actively involved in community treatment and prevention, education or training.

  • Successful applicants need to have a viable plan to share what was learned at the conference, particularly with other treatment and research educators.

Only one award per organisation will be granted. The scholarship will cover:

  • Conference registration fee

  • A contribution of a maximum of £100 towards travel expenses, paid post event via an expense claim form and submission of receipts

  • You will then be asked to provide a written statement of how the criteria will be met. NB applications which do not include the written statement will not be considered.

Applications must be received by 17th October 2022.

  • If you are not successful, your registration will be changed to a ‘community registration’ place and you will be required to pay the £50 registration fee.

Successful community registrants will be required to pay the full applicable registration fee post conference if they fail to attend the conference or provide 14 days’ notice of their cancellation.


BHIVA Registration Scholarships

Registration Scholarships have been made available to assist delegates to attend the conference.
  • Up to 10 awards will be available to healthcare professionals who are:
    - retired, not working, or employed in a part-time (half-time or less [20 hours]) or equivalent capacity.
    - In addition, students involved in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate work will also qualify for these awards.

The scholarship will cover:

  • the conference registration fee.

  • Applications to be made during the registration process. Please follow the registration link, select the registration category ‘I wish to apply for a Scholarship’. Select ‘BHIVA Registration Scholarship’ on the subsequent page.

  • You will then be asked to provide a written statement of current status. A statement as to how attending the forthcoming conference will be of benefit is also required.

Applications must be received by 17th October 2022.

  • If you are not successful, your registration will be changed to the relevant paid registration type, and you will be required to pay the registration fee. Earlybird fees will be charged if this is the case.


All applicants will be notified during the week commencing 24th October 2022.
