26th Annual Conference of BHIVA supported by ViiV Healthcare UK
ViiV Healthcare UK in collaboration with the British HIV Association (BHIVA) made provision for travel bursary awards to be made available to assist UK based healthcare professionals to attend the 26th Annual Conference of BHIVA, which was to be held in Manchester 26-29 April 2020.
This event was cancelled due to COVID-19.
BHIVA Travel Bursaries to the annual Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) Funded By MSD Ltd
The British HIV Association made provision for a number of scholarship awards funded by MSD Ltd to assist healthcare professionals to attend the annual Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI). Scholarship awards were capped at a maximum of £2,000 each and were considered a contribution towards an award winner’s registration fee, travel and accommodation expenses.

Janssen Travel Bursary Scholarships in collaboration with BHIVA
Janssen Ltd in collaboration with the British HIV Association (BHIVA) made provision for 8 scholarship awards to be made available to assist healthcare professionals to attend the International AIDS Society conference which was held in Vancouver, Canada on 19-22 July 2015. Scholarship awards were capped at a maximum of £2,000 each and were considered a contribution towards an award winner’s registration fee, travel and accommodation expenses.

Janssen Exchange Scholarships in collaboration with BHIVA, Barts Health NHS Trust and the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) 2016
Janssen, in collaboration with the British HIV Association (BHIVA), Barts Health NHS Trust and the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), set up an Exchange Scholarship for a UK-based training grade doctor, pharmacist or nurse (working in the field of HIV medicine and who is also a BHIVA member) and a Zimbabwean trainee/physician. The Exchange Scholarship enabled the winning UK applicant to travel to Zimbabwe to take part in a placement at a teaching hospital HIV unit for 4 weeks. The winning Zimbabwean applicant was presented with the opportunity to observe specialist HIV multidisciplinary in-patient care in the NHS at Barts Trust in London for a period of 4 weeks.

BHIVA / AbbVie / SSAT (BASS) Young Physician's Exchange Scholarships 2015
AbbVie in collaboration with the British HIV Association (BHIVA) and the St Stephen's AIDS Trust (SSAT) set up an exchange scholarship for UK-based Specialist Registrars (SpRs) and Specialty Registrars (StRs) who are training in the field of HIV medicine and who are also BHIVA members. The exchange scholarship enabled winning applicants to travel to a developing or transition country to take part in a placement at an HIV unit for up to 2 weeks. In exchange, an overseas scholar from a developing or transition country travelled to the UK to take part in a placement at an HIV centre or hospital.

BMS Exchange Scholarships in collaboration with BHIVA and SAHIVCS 2014
Bristol-Myers Squibb in collaboration with the British HIV Association (BHIVA) and the South African HIV Clinicians Society (SAHIVCS) set up an exchange scholarship for UK-based Specialist Registrars (SpRs), Specialty Registrars (StRs) and non-medical healthcare professionals (e.g. specialist pharmacists, occupational therapists, dieticians, physiotherapists and nurses) who are working in the field of HIV medicine and who are also BHIVA members. The exchange scholarship enabled winning applicants to travel to Botswana to take part in a placement at an HIV unit for up to 2 weeks. In exchange, a scholar from Botswana travelled to the UK to take part in a placement at an HIV centre or hospital.
