Vacancy for a Qualitative Researcher

The BHIVA Primary Care Project has been funded by the MAC AIDS Fund and aims to describe and define models of care and the resources needed to support the management of HIV in primary care in the UK, in order to inform optimal models of care for people living with HIV in the UK.

We need an experienced qualitative researcher. The work is available to start as soon as possible (from mid-July 2015) and is required to be completed by March 2016. It is expected that the total work required could be completed in approximately 1,000 hours.

The work is available on a casual ("as and when") basis and will vary from week to week. Flexibility is therefore very important, however, it is the responsibility of the candidate to organise the work around any other commitments that the successful candidate may have.

The post holder will be expected to conduct a scoping review of the literature; conduct and analyse key informant interviews with GPs, HIV specialists and the community; facilitate a stake holders meeting and write a final report with recommendations to implement the new models of care.

The post-holder will be based in central London and supervised by a team, which consists of HIV, General Practice and community leads. The project is overseen by the BHIVA primary care steering committee.

The successful candidate will have a postgraduate qualification and be expected to have experience in the following:

1. Conducting and analysing qualitative interviews using Framework
2. Conducting reviews of the literature
3. Facilitating stakeholder meetings and/or workshops
4. Writing of reports or scientific papers
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills
6. Non-judgemental
7. Highly motivated and hard working
8. Able to work independently.

Knowledge of Nvivo and previous experience in the field of HIV, sexual health or primary care is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will need to keep timesheets, and payments will be made in arrears in a maximum of three instalments. The hourly rate is £20.24 - £24.15, including London weighting, depending on experience.

Please send a CV with a cover letter explaining why you would like to be considered for the post by email to the BHIVA Secretariat at bhiva@bhiva.org. Application deadline is 1730 on Friday 26 June 2015 and interviews are to be held during w/c 13 July 2015.
