ACCEA/SACDA Awards Panel

BHIVA has had specialist society status with ACCEA since the 2007 awards round. BHIVA considers applications for supporting citations for consultants in Wales and Northern Ireland and also for the SACDA awards scheme in Scotland. All UK-based BHIVA consultant members who are eligible for consideration may apply. BHIVA has between 250 and 500 consultant members and the number of awards is limited to a maximum of 10 Bronze and 5 Silver or Gold awards.

The Awards Panel, led by the BHIVA Chair, reviews nominations submitted against the following criteria endorsed by the BHIVA Executive Committee:

  1. Those whose names will be supported by a citation from BHIVA;
  2. Those whose application is very strong but lacking in a minor category and should be reviewed the following year, and
  3. Those who are not eligible for BHIVA support.

Consultants for whom a citation is awarded will be ranked and scored by the BHIVA Awards Panel, based on an assessment of their contribution to the field of HIV medicine; in particular those elements that are over and above the course of their usual work.
