Briefing paper on extending the role of primary and community care in HIV
BHIVA is pleased to announce a consultation draft of a short briefing paper on primary care and community-based HIV services. This builds on the Standards for HIV Clinical Care, which we published in 2007 in partnership with the Royal College of Physicians, the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV and the British Infection Society. It aims to offer guidance to clinicians and commissioners on principles and points to be considered when planning any extension of the role of primary care and community services in the management of patients with diagnosed HIV infection, while taking account of wider developments in the relationship between primary, secondary and tertiary care.
