BHIVA / Wellcome Trust Multidisciplinary Event in support of World AIDS Day

On 1st December 2011 BHIVA held a World AIDS Day Event in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust.

2011 is the thirtieth anniversary of the first description of AIDS - a milestone in the continuing epidemic that has claimed the lives of more than 25 million people worldwide. Much has been learned in those thirty years to inform treatment and understand the epidemic, but there is still no cure and new infections continue in the face of prevention interventions. Whilst reflecting on the experiences and work of the past 30 years speakers also reviewed today's challenges and looked ahead to consider how the knowledge of the past will inform future strategies.

The event was held at the Wellcome Collection Conference Centre in Euston, London.
